About NextGen Shopping
NextGen Shopping LLC is dedicated to enhancing the consumer shopping experience through research and development of next generation shopping technologies. In 2006, during the first year of operations, NextGen Shopping positioned itself as a development stage company in the e-commerce sector of the tech industry. Research and analysis was conducted on the growing opportunities in the sector. Specific findings included the rise of Web 2.0 features required in online shopping, opportunities in e-commerce advertising, existing price comparison engine opportunities and threats, and a lack of development knowledge for new shopping-related APIs. Industry findings, analysis and event coverage were often posted to the NextGen Shopping blog during the company's initial years. In late 2007 founder Marc Mezzacca decided to stop posting research and analysis in order to further focus on growing the core of the company.
In mid 2007, NextGen Shopping began research on social shopping and real-time information technologies. A social shopping Facebook application dubbed "My Shopping" was launched. The application would quickly garner attention but with the new and ever changing Facebook platform, it quickly became inefficient maintain. However, the idea sparked a new venture that would become what is now called YourShopping. The company began investigating Telligent's popular Community Server software as the platform of choice for the new project. In 2009 Telligent Community 5.0 platform was released and NextGen rapidly began development on top of the platform. At this time the company is still developing the YourShopping website.
In 2009 the company also began investigating opportunities with Twitter for the YourShopping project. From this research a new project was stemmed after findings of opportunities in the bargain shopping sector. This project lead to the recent launch of CouponFollow.com.
